Shabbat has long been a means to reconnect with ourselves, our families and our community. And nothing embodies the Shabbat table more than delicious fresh baked Challah.
Bring your mother, sister, girlfriend and Social Club mate! Whether it's your first attempt to make challah or you are a challah maven this event is for you. We will be kneading, braiding and shaping challah perfect for all skill levels.
This is an experience you will not want to forget! Come for the camaraderie, for the tradition, for the fun, for the songs, or just come for the Challah!
Baking challah is a time-honored Mitzvah dating bake to our Matriarchs. It is taught that when a woman bakes Challah and makes the appropriate blessings on the dough, she is bringing additional blessing into her home and into the food that she lovingly prepares for family and friends. It is a time for women to pray for their personal needs, the needs of their families and communities.
By bringing a large group of women together to bake Challah, in addition to learning a wonderful skill and joining in community, our hope is that our joint mitzvah and prayers will create a powerful spiritual moment.
*Bake Challah from scratch. Watch your handwork rise from flour and water to a delicious tasty loaf of Challah! You can master this great art!
